Every Kind Kantha throw is empowering a woman in south India, hand-stitched lovingly and equitably to create a brighter, kinder future.
Kind Kantha was born in late 2023 out of a years-long love for this beautifully intricate art form. Our aim is to economically empower and uplift a small group of women in our community in need of safe livelihood opportunities, powered by equity and kindness rather than exploitation.
We believe in paying above market, fair-trade wages as a way to invest in the six women behind these products, creating a joyful environment to help them expand their skills, find sisterhood and grow as individuals while we together preserve this beautiful time-honored cultural tradition.
Each kantha is made using the highest quality organic cotton and block print fabrics that have been ethically sourced and produced by a talented team in Jaipur we are proud to work with.
Once our fabric is produced, our Kantha collection of throws are lovingly hand-stitched in south India by a group of brilliant women, many of whom are underserved and have joined this project in hopes of a brighter and safer future for their family.
Kantha is a traditional Indian embroidery that traces back thousands of years, historically made with recycled sarees. A symbol of hospitality and sisterhood, each throw is made of four layers of cotton fabric and takes 7-10 days to complete.
We hope you will cherish yours for many years ahead.
